GARDNER SEDLEY MAN FOUND FATALLY BURNED IN HOME WEDNESDAY Willie C. Gardner, 80 year old resident of the Johnson’s Grove community near Sedley, was found burned to death in his home Wednesday morning. Mr. Gardner lived alone and had not been seen since Monday, when a neighbor brought him home in a car Monday morning. The same man was passing Wednesday morning about 9 o’clock and stopped near the house. He noticed that the chickens came running to the fence as if they had not been fed for a long time and went over to the house and looked through a window. He saw Mr. Gardner lying face down on the floor and once going in the house found that his clothing was burned off from the waist up. He had fallen in front of an open fireplace. The house was not burned except for a hole in the floor over which Gardner was lying. It was conjectured that perhaps the old man had had an attack of some kind or that he and possibly gone to sleep before the fireplace and his clothing had caught fire before he realized it. It was thought that the fatal accident had occurred Monday or quite early Tuesday, from the condition of the body. The body was brought to W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home here, where the body was prepared for burial Mr. Gardner is survived by a niece, Miss Anna Gardner of Sedley, and a nephew, T.D. Gardner of Capron. He was a member of Johnson’s Grove Christian Church. Services were conducted at the grave in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock with his pastor, Dr. Elwood W. Jones officiating. William C.
