All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ BURFOOT BRAY GARRENTON Burfoot Bray Garrenton, aged 64, died at his home in South Street her last Saturday afternoon following an illness of several months. Mr. Garrenton was the son of the late Dr. James F. and Amanda Bray Garrenton of Camden, N.C. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. J.C. Ireton of Tazewell, Va., and Misses Frances, Mary and Alice Garrenton of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. B.C. Kinsey of Coinjock, N.C., and Mrs. John Humphrees of Norfolk; one brother, James Garrenton of Norfolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Garrenton came to Franklin in 1904 and was for some years employed by the Albemarle Steam Navigation Company here. More recently he had managed a service station in Franklin. He was a communicant of Emmanuel Episcopal Church of this town. Services were held from the residence Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock by his pastor, the Rev. Frederic Sapp. The choir of the church sang "Abide with Me," Rev. Mr. Sapp reading "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." Interment followed at Poplar Spring Cemetery, where the pastor read "Now the Laborer’s Task Is O’er." Pallbearers were S.W. Rawls, Geo. Watkins, Paul Carr, Bailey Maddrey, Linwood Norfleet, J.W.B. Thompson, Leroy Allen and Thurman Pierce.
