Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, Zuni, by the Rev. J. Sydney Cobb, retired minister. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken from the Purviance Funeral Home to the church at 1 p.m. to lie in state until time for the services. She was a native of Southampton County and a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Miss Rose Marie Garner and Miss Evelyn Ray Garner of the home and Mrs. Hazel Joyner of Ivor; three sisters, Mrs. Robert Cook of Surry and Mrs. Homer Cook and Mrs. T.L. Britt of Ivor; three brothers, Clyde Saunders of Windsor, Edward Saunders of Suffolk and Allen Saunders of Handsom; a half-sister, Mrs. Tom Eure of Suffolk; two half-brothers, Roy Saunders of Windsor and George Saunders of Smithfield and two grandchildren. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. Ethel Garner Mrs. Ethel Louise Saunders Garner of the Ivor community died in a Suffolk hospital on Monday night, May 19, at 9 o'clock. The deceased was the wife of Callie Garner of Ivor and daughter of the late G.W.L. and Mary Frances Hall Saunders of Southampton County. She was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church. In addition to her husband she is survived by three daughters, Misses Evelyn Ray Garner and Rose Marie Garner and Mrs. Hazel Joyner, all of Ivor; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Homer Cook and Mrs. Robert Cook of Surry and Mrs. P.L. Britt of Ivor; three brothers, Allen Saunders of Handsom, Clyde Saunders of Windsor, and Edward Saunders of Suffolk; one half-sister, Mrs. Tom Eure of Suffolk; and two half-brothers, George Saunders of Smithfield and Ray Saunders of Windsor. Funeral services were held at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church on Wednesday afternoon, May 21, at 2:30 o’clock, with Rev. J. Sidney Cobb of Windsor officiating.
