MARY BELLE CLAYTON HOBBS 

   CHESAPEAKE - A funeral service for Mary Clayton Hobbs, 78, was held at 
11 a.m. Saturday in Oak Grove United Methodist Church by Dr. Owen T. Kelly 
and the Rev. Frank Hughes Jr.  Burial was at 2 p.m. in Ivor Cemetery. 
Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home was in charge.  Mrs. Hobbs died Thursday in 
Dallas, Texas. 

   A native of Southampton County, she had retired from teaching after 29 
years, having taught in South Norfolk, Chesapeake and Isle of Wight County 
schools.  She had graduated from Longwood College, formerly Farmville College. 

   Mrs. Hobbs was member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, Great Bridge 
Chapter 155 of Order of the Eastern Star and Chesapeake Association of Retired 
Teachers. 

   Survivors include her husband, Mack D. Hobbs; two daughters, Marjorie Walsh 
of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Pat Morton of Dallas; two sisters, Eunice 
Gardner and Oliver Harrell, both of Chesapeake; and three grandchildren.
