All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM BRYAN HASTINGS DUBLIN, N.H. - William Bryan "Bill" Hastings, Sr., 92, died Dec. 7, at Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, N.H. Born in Halifax County, in 1908, the youngest son of Florence and John Samuel Hastings, Mr. Hastings moved to Franklin in 1931 to manage the Rose's five and dime store. He was a member of Franklin Congressional Christian Church, and a former deacon of the church. He served in World War II in the 178th General Hospital in Rheims, France. He was also a charter member of the Franklin Lion's Club, and a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years. He owned and operated Hastings Quality Shop in downtown Franklin from 1946 to 1973. Survivors include his wife of 66 years Louise Jones Hastings; son, W. Bryan Hastings, Jr. of Dublin; grandsons, W. Bryan, III of El Cerrito, Calif, and C. Devin Hastings of St. Paul, Minn.; step-grandsons, Avery Holden of Londonderry, N.H., and Michael Kay of Jacksonville, Fla.; and five great- grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for next spring at the Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin. Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
