Haslett died suddenly Monday afternoon at work at Chesapeake-Camp Corporation. He was 65 years of age, a native of Nansemond County, the son of the late William Albert and Mrs. Virginia Rawls Haslett, and had made his home in Franklin was a quiet, unostentatious citizen who numbered many friends here. A number of years ago he married Miss Effie Beale, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Beale, who survives him with two children, a daughter, Miss Caroline Haslett, and a son, John O. Haslett, Jr. of this town. He was with Beale Brothers here for many years, later working with the State Highway Department, and for the past seven years being employed by the Chesapeake-Camp Corporation. Funeral services were held from the Franklin Christian Church Wednesday afternoon at 4 o’clock, conducted by the pastor, Dr. William T. Scott, burial following in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were: M.F. Redford, Letcher Eley, E.L. Beale, E.P. Jones, Wesley Beale, Emory Beale, Harry Steinhardt and George Brown.
