Hawkins, 64, resident of the Franklin community for the past five years died Monday morning, June 21, at Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of three weeks. Mr. Hawkins was born in Frankfort, Ky., and before moving to Franklin lived in North Carolina. A son of the late Robert Elliott and Anna Lewis Hawkins of Frankfort, he was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church of that city. His wife, Mrs. Florence Selina Hawkins, survives him. He was employed by the Holliknoll Dairy as herd test man. Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Norman G. Lankford, Mrs. Irving Thomason, and Miss Anna Elizabeth Hawkins of Franklin, Mrs. Warner H. Moorefield of Suffolk, and Mrs. John M. Lynch of Mebane, N.C.; six sons, Colan D. Hawkins, Jr., Frank B. Hawkins, Thomas Edward Hawkins, and Howard Gerald Hawkins of Franklin, R.C. Hawkins of Clayton, N.C., and William Simpson Hawkins of Burlington, N.C.; and ten grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Hawkins were held at the Holland Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon at five o’clock, with Rev. Randolph Gregory, pastor of the Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, with the following acting as pallbearers: William Peace, Roy Gray, Harry Rutledge, Max Timberlake, R.D. Barham, Dr. Lemuel Branch, Walter Luther Young and Johnnie Johnson. Colan Dee HAWKINS, Holliknoll Dairy herd test man, b.
