FLORENCE SELINA BRIGGS HAWKINS

   Mrs. Florence Briggs Hawkins, 58, a resident of the Franklin community, 
died at her home on Friday community, died at her home on Friday afternoon, 
December 30, after a lingering illness.

   The deceased was the wife of the late Colon D. Hawkins and the daughter 
of the late Thomas and Ann Briggs of Utica, Ind.  She was a member of the 
Methodist Church in Utica.

   She is survived by six sons, Colon D. Hawkins, Jr., and William S. Hawkins 
of Durham, N.C., Frank B. Hawkins of Roughmont, N.C., Robert C. Hawkins of 
Clayton, N.C., and Thomas E. and Howard G. Hawkins, both of Franklin; five 
daughters, Miss Anna Elizabeth Hawkins, Mrs. Norman Lankford and Mrs. Irvin 
Thomason of Franklin, Mrs. John M. Lynch of San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. 
Warner Moorefield of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Frank N. Briggs of 
Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Lewis DeArk of Jeffersonville, Ind.; 13 
grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Hawkins were conducted at the Holland Funeral 
Home at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. Elmer N. Hassell, pastor of High 
Street Methodist Church, following by interment in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
