Hawkins, 59, was held Saturday at 4 p.m. in Southampton Memorial Park by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Wright Funeral Home was in charge. Hawkins died Thursday in a hospital. A native of Kinston, N.C., he was the husband of Kathleen Gallagher Hawkins. He was a merchant and a cattle dealer. He was a Baptist and a member of the Franklin Moose Lodge. Survivors include a son, Jerry Hawkins of Courtland; a stepson, Vincent Barlow of Franklin; six daughters, Patricia H. Fox of Stony Point, N.C., Barbara H. Kennedy of Kinston, Shelby H. King of Midway, N.C., and Joyce H. Anderson, Penny Hawkins and Harriett Hawkins of Grimesland, N.C.; four sisters, Irene Grady and Georgia Arnette of Deep Run, N.C., and Elma Whitfield and Ann Williams of Kinston; two brothers, Paul Hawkins of Richland, N.C. and Kirby Hawkins of Kinston; and six grandchildren.
