GEORGE DEWEY HEDGEPETH

   A funeral service for George D. Hedgepeth, 74, of Courtland was held 
Saturday, July 8 at 3 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the 
Rev. Harry Bunch.

   Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park.

   Pallbearers were Kilby Simms, T.C. Johnson, Jr., Jack Francis, F.A. 
Simmons, T.R. Harrup, Tab Gillette and Bertnelle Johnson.

   A lifelong resident of Southampton County, Hedgepeth died July 6 in 
Southampton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

   The son of Joseph Henry and Josephine Johnson Hedgepeth, he was a retired 
merchant and a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church.

   Besides his wife Mrs. Annie Porter Hedgepeth, he is survived by two 
daughters, Mrs. Garth S. Hancock of Franklin and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson of 
Courtland; three sisters Mrs. Mildred Vaughan of Franklin, Mrs. Garnet E. 
Whitley of Franklin and Mrs. Karl Scott of Handsom; seven grandchildren and 
four great-grandchildren.
