All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HERMAN CLYDE HEDGEPETH Herman Clyde Hedgepeth, 72, husband of Mrs. Nannie Powell Hedgepeth of Courtland, died Thursday, May 3, in Raiford Memorial Hospital, Franklin, following an illness of several months. Mr. Hedgepeth, a native of Southampton County, was the son of the late Richard F. and Mattie Davis Hedgepeth of Isle of Wight County. He had been employed for a number of years with the Fisher Lumber Company and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fannie Dellows of Ramps, Fla., and Mrs. Marjorie H. Joyner of Walters; three sons, Herman Paul Hedgepeth of Courtland, Willie J. Hedgepeth of Plymouth, N.C., and Robert F. Hedgepeth of New Haven, Conn.; a brother, Dilliam Hedgepeth of Chapel Hill, N.C.; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Taylor and Mrs. H.H. Holland of Suffolk, Mrs. Whittie Johnson of Selma, N.C., Mrs. Hertie Powell of Portsmouth and Miss Carrie Hedgepeth of California, and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by Rev. Charles Hutcheson, pastor of Antioch Christian Church and Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church. Burial was in Antioch Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were W.E. Edwards, Stuart Jenkins, Clarence Pittman, A.Ray Jones, Charles M. Braswell, Joe Dickerson, Charlie Dickerson, and Paul Nettler.
