Mrs. Hedgepeth was 82 years old and had lived in the Corinth community since her marriage to James Hedgepeth, 60 years ago. From early childhood she had learned to trust her Savior. No one ever knew her who did not know that her life was on that had long been dedicated to Christ. She was ever a kind mother and a good neighbor. The sick and needy were never forgotten and the community has sustained a great loss in the passing away of this beautiful life. She had been a faithful member of Corinth Friends Church since its foundation many years ago, never failing to attend meeting until declining health prevented. The deceased was the mother of four children*, three of whom preceded her to the grave several years ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. W.B. Raiford, and nine grandchildren, Misses Opie [sic; Okie] and Clementine Raiford of Ivor, Annie Maie Raiford of Sedley, Mrs. C.H. Bradshaw of Franklin, Emerson and Algie Raiford of Ivor, Herman Raiford of Nashville, Tenn., Johnnie Stephenson of Ivor and Arthur Stephenson of Haddonfield, N.J. Her funeral took place at Corinth Friends Church Wednesday afternoon, August 30, where many friends and relatives gathered to pay the last sad tribute of respect to one whom they loved so well. The many floral tributes at her funeral showed the high esteem in which she was held by her neighbors. The body was laid to rest in the old family burying ground, and through her voice is silent in death, yet will the memory of her beautiful life remain with us for years to come.
