COOK HEDGEPETH Mrs. Stella Cook Hedgepeth, age 61 years, resident of Franklin for the past four years, died last Tuesday morning at her home on the Courtland-Franklin Highway after an illness of a few weeks. Mrs. Hedgepeth was the daughter of the late William and Roxanna Gray Cook of the Newsoms community and wife of the late Joseph H. Hedgepeth of Southampton County. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ashley M. Vaughan, of Franklin; two brothers, George T. Cook of Newsoms and William Cook of Carrsville; six sisters, Mrs. H.W. Porter, Mrs. Ada Holloman and Mrs. J.Q. Worrell of Newsoms, Mrs. J.H. Wright of Carrsville, Mrs. A.R. Baggett of Suffolk and Mrs. J.G. Brett of Como, N.C., and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the home by Rev. F.L. Baker, assisted by Rev. J.W. Morrison. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were: A.R. Baggett, H.E. Byrd, L.L. Bryant, H. Lee Vaughan, J.H. Fowler, Dewitt Wright, Marvin Porter and J.C. HEDGEBETH BURIED DEC. 27TH Franklin - Mrs. Stella Cook Hedgebeth, died on Tuesday, December 25th, at her home on the Franklin County Highway after an illness of a few weeks. She was the widow of John H. Hedgebeth of Southampton County, and daughter of the late William and Mrs. Roxanna Gray Cook of Newsoms. She had resided here four years and was a member of Mt. Horeb Methodist Church. Surviving her age one daughter, Mrs. Ashby M. Vaughan of Franklin; two brothers, George T. Cook of Newsoms and William Cook of Carrsville; six sisters, Mrs. H.W. Porter, Mrs. Ada Holloman and Mrs. J.Q. Worrell, all of Newsoms; Mrs. J.H. Wright of Carrsville; Mrs. A.R. Baggett of Suffolk and Mrs. J.G. Britt of Como, N.C. and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Thursday December 27th at 2:30 p.m. at her home by the Rev. F.L. Baker, former pastor of Mt. Horeb Church and assisted by the Rev. J.W. Morris.
