All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY VIRGINIA HODGES The death of Miss Mary Virginia Hodges, aged 80, formerly of Franklin, occurred Tuesday, June 13, at 12:30 p.m., at the home of her sister, Mrs. G.V. White, 421 West 34th Street, Norfolk. "Miss Mollie," as she was known to her numerous friends here and elsewhere, was born in Nansemond County, the daughter of the late Henry Harrison and Mrs. Cornelia King Hodges. Until a few years ago, when she moved to Norfolk, she had made her home in Franklin with her sister, the late Mrs. Gertrude Hodges Beale. She was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church and of the Ladies’ Aid Society. Surviving her are two sisters, Mrs. G.V. White of Norfolk and Mrs. J. Roland Wier of Baltimore; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Wesley H. Beale of this place. Funeral services were held at the Franklin Congregational Christian Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with the pastor, Dr. William T. Scott, officiating. The remains were buried in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the following acting as pallbearers: E.L. Beale, James I. Beale, E.R. Bryant, E.P. Jones, L.R. Jones, Walter H. Norfleet and Dr. H.S. Hardcastle of Norfolk. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
