Judge Chandler Woodward Hill died at his home at Drewerysvllle [sic; Drewryville], Southampton county, Va., at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. Judge Hill was one of the best known members of the bar, having served thirteen years as Judge of the Hustings Court for the city of Portsmouth and eight years as Circuit Court judge, and during all those years held a high position in the estimation of all with whom he came in contact. After leaving the bench he moved from Norfolk, where he had resided for some years, to Southampton county, where he bought a farm, intending to make a home for his family, but last December he was taken ill and since that time has been a great sufferer from stomach trouble. Judge Hill was a brave soldier in the war and has always lived an upright Christian life. He was fifty-four years of age, and leaves a widow and several sons to mourn their loss. The remains will be brought here this morning and carried to the residence of his brother, Mr. John T. Hill, No. 221 North street, from which the funeral will take place this afternoon at 5 o'clock.
