Many Matters of Interest Picked Up in and Around Town. Special to The Landmark. Suffolk, Va., April 19. - [...] Mr. C.M. Howell died of consumption at his home, in Franklin, this afternoon at 6 o'clock, surrounded by weeping relatives and friends. Mr. Howell was a prominent merchant of the above town, popular, and a young man of much promise. He was just thirty years of age. and had been sick for a long time, though it was not expected that death would claim him so soon. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Howell, and left a wife and two young children, besides many relatives and friends, to mourn their loss. Only a few years ago was he married to Miss Minnie Rawles, daughter of Mr. Elisha Rawles, of Nansemond county, and a cousin of Hon. R.H. Rawles, of Suffolk. Mr. Howell was much loved for his many noble traits of character, and was also the idol of his parents, having always been a good and dutiful son. He was well known and highly esteemed here, and the many friends of the family unite in extending heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved ones. The funeral will take place at 5 o'clock to-morrow afternoon in Franklin. [...] Charles M.
