CARROLL RAYMOND HOWELL 

   SUFFOLK - A funeral service for Carroll Raymond Howell, 79, was held at 
2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Holland-Rideout Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Revs. 
Daniel Bowers and Clyde Alderman.  Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park.

   Howell died Saturday in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

   A native of Nansemond County, he was the husband of Carolease Holland 
Howell.

   He had retired from farming and as a Nansemond County deputy sheriff and 
was a member of Holy Neck United Church of Christ, First Bible Class and Holy 
Neck Ruritan Club.

   Other survivors include two sons, Seth G. Howell of Chesapeake and James 
C. Howell of Virginia Beach; a sister, Ruby H. Knight of Suffolk; two 
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
