EUGENE FRANKLIN HOWELL

Eugene Franklin Howell, 65, died in a Norfolk hospital Friday.  He was a life- 
long resident of Southampton Co. and the son of Arthur and Mrs. Cora Bryant 
Howell; a member of the Courtland Baptist Church and the Courtland Masonic 
Lodge, Portsmouth Scottish Rites and a 32nd Degree Mason.  He was a retired 
farmer and had been associated with the Virginia State Correctional System for 
the past 5 years.  He is survived by a son, Danny Howell of LaGrange, N.C.; a 
sister, Miss Lizzie Howell of Courtland, and one granddaughter.  A funeral 
service will be held Sunday at 3 P.M. in the Courtland Baptist Church.  Burial 
in Riverside Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Wright Funeral Home in charge of 
arrangements.

     COURTLAND - - Eugene Franklin Howell, 65, died Friday in a Norfolk

     A native of Southampton County, he was a member of the Courtland Baptist 
Church, Courtland Masonic Lodge, Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies, and a 32nd 
degree Mason. 

     Survivors include a son, Danny Howell of LaGrange, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. 
Lizzie Howell of Courtland; and a granddaughter. 

     A funeral will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Courtland Baptist Church by 
the Rev. Edmund Ellis.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, with 
Masonic rites at the grave.  Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge.
