All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EVIE KNIGHT HOWELL FRANKLIN - Mrs. Evie Knight Howell, 76, of 600 High Street, died Monday in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk, after a short illness. She was the widow of Alexander Gibson Howell of Oxford, N.C. and the daughter of the late John Robert and Annie Wills Knight of Franklin. Mrs. Howell was a life-time member of the Franklin Baptist Church, an active member of the Woman’s Missionary Union and a charter member of the Franklin Music Club. She is survived by one son, A. Gibson Howell, and one grandson A.G. Howell Jr. of Suffolk, one sister, Mrs. Inez Knight Story of Suffolk, a brother, James T. Knight of Richmond, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Franklin Baptist Church Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the church. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Clifford Cutchins III, Tony Cobb, J.M. Camp Jr., Letcher Eley, G.E. Pillow, Ashby Rawls, Dr. Irvin Knight and C.P.
