All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ FRANK EDGAR HOWELL Frank Edgar Howell, 87, husband of the late Mrs. Mamie Barrett Howell, died Monday at 7:45 p.m. in a hospital. A native of Whaleyville, he was a son of Jordan W. and Mrs. Emma Ellenor Howell of Nansemond County. He was in the livery stable business in Franklin 53 years. He was a life member of Franklin Baptist Church and a charter member of its Bruner Bible Class. In 1951, he was presented a 50-year award by Knights of Pythias Lodge 51 of Franklin. Surviving are two sons, Frank Ellenor Howell of Suffolk and Richard Malcolm Howell of Carmichael, Calif.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Helen Howell Crawford of Portsmouth; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins of Franklin Baptist Church and the Rev. Ben B. Ussery of Boykins Baptist Church. The funeral procession left I.O. Hill and Co. Funeral Home, Suffolk, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. for the cemetery. The family was at the home of Frank E. Howell of 1027 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suffolk.
