Howell FRANKLIN - June 26 - Mrs. J. Richard Howell Sr., 81, well known resident of Franklin, died early Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruby Roberts, in Suffolk, after many months of illness. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ruby Roberts of Suffolk; one son J. Richard Howell Jr., of Franklin; three grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be held from the Holland funeral chapel Thursday at 2:30. ****************************************************************************** Mrs. J. Richard Howell, Sr. Mrs. J. Richard Howell, Sr., well known resident of Franklin, died early Wednesday morning, June 26, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruby Roberts, in Suffolk after many months of illness. She had made her home in Suffolk with her daughter for the past year. Mrs. Howell was the wife of the late J. Richard Howell, Sr., and the daughter of the late James Calvin and Sarah Sumner Holland of Southampton County. She was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church. Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Roberts, are one son, J. Richard Howell, Jr., of Franklin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral home this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, and Rev. John Crocker, pastor of the Wilroy Mission Baptist Church, Suffolk. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Ernest Bryant, James Bryant, Homer Holland, Jimmie Lankford, Harry Mulder, Morgan Lankford and Smithy Moore. Lillian Molee "Lulie" (HOLLAND; Mrs. J.
