Herman Smith and the Rev. Norman L. Blythe of Newport News. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery with W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Milton Futrell, James Kitchen, Vance Grissom, Lindberg Grissom, E. Warren Beale, Hubert Beale, R.M. Dickerson and Eugene Howell. Hill, 79, died in his home Friday morning. A native of Hertford County, he had lived in the Courtland community for 20 years. He was a member of the Courtland Baptist Church. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, A.T. (Tom) Hill of Smithfield, and S. Winfield Hill of Richmond; three daughters, Mrs. J.W. Freeman of Suffolk, Mrs. L.F. Chapman Jr. of Smithfield, and Mrs. G.V. Younce Jr. of La Vale, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. O.E. Ferguson of Raleigh and Mrs. R.L. Askey of Portsmouth; and 11 grandchildren.
