Hall of Drewryville, who died Tuesday after months of ill health, were conducted from his late home today at 12 o'clock. The body was interred with Masonic honors. Mr. Hall, who was greatly beloved in his section, underwent an operation in a Norfolk hospital a few days before his death and never rallied. ****************************************************************************** WILLIAM THOMAS HALL Mr. William Thomas Hall was born December 12, 1859 in Prince George county. For twenty years he had been a resident of Southampton county, a good citizen. Early in life he married Miss Nannie Beale from which marriage there are six children. He was a faithful and devoted husband and father. Mr. Hall was a steward in Peetes M E. church, having been a consistent member for a number of years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 85 and I.O.O.F. No. 270. Mr. Hall had been failing in health, but not until the last few weeks had his condition become of such nature as to require a special nurse. She and attentive doctors did all in their power. On September 7th he was carried to Sarah Leigh Hospital, Norfolk. There he lived ten days before the Great Physician saw fit to relieve him of his suffering and pain. At two-thirty P.M. September 17th he passed away; his beloved wife was at his bedside. His remains were laid to rest at noon September 19th at his late home, a few miles from Capron. The 1900 Census - Drewryville Dist., Southampton Co. - gives b. Dec 1860. D.Cert. 16436 (Norfolk #6888) ) gives b. Dec. 12, 1859. His father, James Thomas HALL (ca. 1835 - 1914), was a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Co. I, 8th VA Infantry. He applied for a pension 16 Jun 1900. William's step-mother, Robert Anna (HAINES) HALL (ca. 1847 - 1922) applied for a pension 20 Jun 1918.
