He was a Southampton County native, husband of Ester Callis Holt and son of Andrew Jackson and Mrs. Eunice Gay Holt. An Ivor merchant, he was a member of Wakefield Baptist Church, a charter member of Ivor Ruritan Club, and a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Sussex & Surry. Surviving are two sons, J. Reginald Holt of Wakefield and Emmett W. Holt of Franklin; a brother, A.N. Holt of Ivor, and two grandson, Bobby and Jimmy Holt of Franklin. A funeral service was held in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, Wednesday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. D.M. Cotter of Wakefield Baptist church, assisted by the Rev. G.C. Bentley of High Street Methodist Church Franklin. Burial was in the Ivor Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.N. Barker, J.N. Savedge, Jack Bain, L.A. Brantley, C.M. Ramsey, O.L. Holt, Dr. E.C. Nettles and G.L. Munford.
