JAMES MALLORY HOLT

   WAKEFIELD - James Mallory Holt, 72, died Tuesday at noon at his home near 
Wakefield after illness of four months.

   A lifelong resident and a farmer of Southampton County, he was the husband 
of Mrs. Rosa Turner Holt.  His late parents were Joseph and Mrs. Anna Wellons 
Holt.

   Besides his wife, surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bailey of 
Franklin; five sons, Clarence E. Holt of Petersburg, James P. Holt, Joe Henry 
Holt and Frank Holt, all of Sedley and Willie Holt of Hopewell; 13 
grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Esko Edward Holt of 
Richmond and Herman F. Holt of Petersburg, and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Branch 
of Richmond.

   A funeral service will be held at Purivance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, 
today (Thursday) at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Hugh Winston Jr., pastor of Waverly 
Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery.
