J.H. HOLLAND THURSDAY MORNING Franklin was shocked early yesterday morning when the lifeless body of Mrs. J.H. Holland was found in the vacant lot adjoining the Stonewall Hotel, indications being that she jumped or fell from the window of her room on the second floor of the hotel and was probably instantly killed. The body was taken to the Holland Funeral Home, and the hour for the funeral was tentatively set for Saturday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock from the Franklin Baptist Church with burial to follow in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Mrs. Holland, "Miss Addie" as she was known by all of her friends, was the daughter of the late Henry and Mrs. Nancy Cobb Channell of the Riverdale community, this county, and she had celebrated her 76th birthday on May 2. She was a graduate of Chowan College, Murfreesboro, and was governess in the home of the late Mr. and Mrs. P.D. Camp of 13 years. A consistent member of the Franklin Baptist Church and its missionary organizations, she was a woman of fine character, quiet an unostentatious in all of her ways. Many years ago she was married to J.H. Holland of this town, who died July 7, 1939, and they have one son, Lieut. Joseph B. Holland, U.S.A., who is connected with the Signal Corps at Camp Chaffee, near Fort Smith, Arkansas. Lieut. Holland is expected to reach Franklin some time Friday night.
