Holland, age about 46, of Carrsville, Va., general manager of Ford & Harvey Construction Company, engaged in building the new concrete road to Edgerton, was instantly killed. A tractor, by which a big plow was being pulled, had become stalled when driven by H.A. Lankford of Franklin. Wanting to get the tractor started, Mr. Holland took the wheel, and in trying to start it, he evidently gave it too much gas, causing it to rear backward and turn completely over. Mr. Holland was caught between the plow and the tractor and his neck was broken, causing instant death. His body was naturally injured some, but was not seriously crushed, as was reported at first. The accident happened in front of the home of Mrs. C.A. Cumbia. No inquest was held, since Dr. Valentine, the coroner, stated that it was not necessary, since the cause of death was evident. The body was removed to the Lawrenceville Furniture Company, where it was prepared for burial, then to the home of Mallory Turnbull, in which home Mr. Holland had been staying. Efforts were at once made to get in telephone communication with Mrs. Holland, but being unable to reach her by phone, a wire was sent. As we go to press Wednesday night no answer has been received from her. Carrsville is about five miles from Franklin. In the meantime a brother in Norfolk was located and notified. The body was shipped to Franklin early this morning, from which place it will be taken to Carrsville. Mr. Holland is survived by a wife and one son, Edward, who is about ten years old. ****************************************************************************** EDWARD W.
