James Wilson Holland, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Holland, was killed in action December 26, in Luxembourg, according to a letter received from the War Department by his brother, Homer Holland. He is survived by another brother, Robert Holland, Jr. of Lumberton, NC and a sister, Mrs. R.K. Stephenson of Emporia, and three nieces. A native of this community, Pvt. Holland was born January 5, 1921. He graduated from Franklin High School in the class of 1938 and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Prior to his induction in the Army on October 6, 1942, he was in employee of Chesapeake-Camp Corporation. Wilson possessed a congenial disposition and had many friends. Pvt. Holland trained for service at Camp Forrest, Tenn; Camp Phillips, Kansas; and Camp Laguna, Arizona, from which place he was transferred to Fort Dix, N.J., preparatory for overseas duty. He had been overseas since July, 1944. He was in the 80th Division, 319 Infantry. ****************************************************************************** PVT. JAMES WILSON HOLLAND SOLDIER WHO FELL IN BATTLE TO BE BURIED TOMORROW AFTERNOON The body of Pvt. James Wilson Holland, son of the late R. Edward and Nora Harcum Holland of the Franklin community, who was killed in action on December 26, 1944, will arrive in Franklin this morning from overseas for reburial. Pvt. Holland was born January 5, 1921. He graduated from Franklin High School in the class of 1938, and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Prior to his induction into the army on October 6, 1942, he was an employee of Camp Manufacturing Company. Surviving his are two brothers, Homer Holland of Franklin and Robert E. Holland, Jr., of Lumberton, N.C.; and one sister, Mrs. R.K. Stephenson of Emporia. Funeral services will be held at the graveside in Sycamore Church cemetery tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at three o’clock, with the pastor, Rev. L.M. Kanipe, officiating. Pvt.
