Following a period of service in the Navy during World War One, Mr. Hann came to Franklin from his native state, New Jersey, to begin the local branch of the business which was begun by his ancestors in New Jersey. Under has able management this firm has grown from a small project to one of the foremost enterprises of the Tidewater area. His name wherever known stood for the highest standards of personal and business integrity. He was acutely conscious of the needs of others, and was ready at all times of want or misfortune to give of his service and his substance without thought of material gain or recognition. His loss will be keenly felt by the congregation of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, of which he was a consistent and faithful member. It was fitting that his last resting place should be the Edwards family cemetery, the years of residence in his wife’s paternal home having strengthened the bonds of mutual love and understanding. The hosts of friends from far and near who came to express sympathy and pay tribute to his memory, and the wealth of floral tokens, all bespoke the love and esteem in which this worthy citizen was held.
