ANGUS HENDERSON HINES

   Angus H. Hines, former Southampton citizen, died at his home on the White 
Marsh Road near Suffolk Wednesday morning in his 76th year, following a 
protracted illness. Mr. Hines, who was a native of this county, resided for many 
years in the Boykins community where he was universally esteemed for his many 
fine qualities, and was known throughout Southampton as one of the county’s best 
and most substantial citizens. Mr. Hines, formerly a member of Clarksbury M.E. 
Church, had been actively affiliated with Main Street M. E. Church, Suffolk, 
since his residence there. Three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Hines celebrated their 
50th wedding anniversary, and besides his widow, Mrs. Anna Hines, they are 
survived by 12 children: Mrs. G.M. Naff of Emporia, Mrs. C.F. Griffin of 
Suffolk, Mrs. A.L. Urbach of Weston, W.Va., Russell H. Hines, Jack B. Hines and 
Louis Hines of New York City, F.A. Hines of Boykins, H.W. Hines of Ivor, and 
Angus I. Hines, Olin L., L. Quinby and Garland Hines of Suffolk; 15 
grandchildren and one brother, W.P. Hines of Emporia, and several nieces and 
nephews.

   Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock at the grave 
in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, conducted by the Rev. J.T. Allen, pastor of Main 
Street Methodist Church, Suffolk, assisted by the Rev. Dr. H.J. Goodwin of the 
Suffolk First Baptist Church, Rev. R.L. Haga of the Boykins M.E. Church and Rev. 
Frank B. Handley of Boykins.
