Hines, wife of the late A.H. Hines and widely known in Suffolk and Nansemond county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.F. Griffin, 119 Clay street, last night after a long illness. Mrs. Hines was 71 years of age. Mrs. Hines has been ill since the death of her late husband about 18 months ago. Following the death of Mr. Hines she left the family home on the White Marsh road to live with her son-in-law and daughter Dr. and Mrs. Griffin. Mrs. Hines, who before her marriage was Miss Anna Catherine Eads, was the daughter of the late Edwin Eads, of Rockbridge county, and the late Mrs. Bettie Taylor Eads of Northampton county, N.C. She was a member of Main Street M.E. church. Surviving Mrs. Hines are three daughters and nine sons: Mrs. C.F. Griffin, of this city, Mrs. A.L. Urbach, of Weston, W.V., Mrs. G.M. Naff, of Emporia; Russell, Jack and Louis Hines, of New York City, Wray, Angus, Olin, Quimby and Garland Hines, of Suffolk, and Floyd Hines, of Boykins. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. M.E. Bolinger, of San Francisco, and many grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Beechwood cemetery at Boykins on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The service will be conducted by the pastor of the Methodist church at Boykins and the Rev. Dr. George Wesley Jones, pastor of Main Street M.E. church here. The funeral procession will leave the home of Dr. and Mrs. Griffin at 1 p.m. on Saturday. ****************************************************************************** ANNA CATHERINE EADS HINES Mrs. A.H. Hines, a former resident of Boykins, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.F. Griffin, in Suffolk Thanksgiving Day in her 72nd year. Before her marriage she was Miss Anna Eads of Northampton County, N.C. In 1880 she married Angus H. Hines of Hertford County. To this union 15 children were born twelve of whom survive her, three daughters, Mrs. G.M. Naff of Emporia, Mrs. C.F. Griffin of Suffolk, Mrs. Elizabeth Urbach of Weston, West Virginia; nine sons, Louis, Jack and Russell Hines of New York City, Olin, Angus, Wray, Garland and Quinby Hines of Suffolk, and Floyd Hines of Boykins. Mrs. Hines’ useful life, her devotion to her husband and family was an inspiration to all who knew her. Funeral services were held December 1 at 2:30 o’clock at the grave in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, conducted by Dr. George Wesley Jones of Suffolk, assisted by Rev. J.L. Kibler and Rev. F.B. Handley of Boykins and Rev. Mr. Blackwell of Emporia. The casket was covered with a pall of Ascension lilies, white roses and gypsophila. Sons of the deceased bore the casket and friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. The choir sang "In the Garden" and "It Is Well with My Soul." Many friends from Franklin, Emporia, Suffolk and neighboring towns attended the funeral. Anna Catherine (EADS; Mrs. Angus H.)
