Hancock Jr. SEDLEY - Benjamin Franklin Hancock Jr., 59, died Tuesday night in his home after a brief illness. A native of Sedley, he was a son of Benjamin and Mrs. Lula Whitehead Hancock of Southampton County and the husband of Mrs. Virginia Williams Hancock. He was a member of Grace Memorial Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class. Besides his wife he is survived by a son, the Rev. Elliott Hancock of Portsmouth; a daughter, Mrs. R.E. Baugham Jr. of Boykins; four brothers, Herbert Hancock and William Bryan Hancock, both of Sedley, Ronie [sic; Romie] Hancock of Courtland and Ellis Hancock of Holland; four sisters, Mrs. J.R. Vaughan of Rich Square, N.C., Mrs. Garland Cook of Portsmouth, Mrs. Joseph Allen of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. James L. Spivey of Whittier, Calif.; and a grandson. A funeral service will be conducted today at 4:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. J.H. Moreland of Grace Memorial Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery in Sedley.
