All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MOSES THOMAS HANCOCK Moses Thomas Hancock, 54, a resident of Suffolk for the past five years and a former resident of Southampton County, died Tuesday night, January 8, in the Louise Obici Hospital. The deceased was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Hancock of this county. Mr. Hancock is survived by two sons, Chappelle Hancock, USAF, of Bolling Field, Washington, D.C., and Bobby Hancock of Suffolk; two brothers, R. L. Hancock of Courtland and Jack Hancock of Alexandria; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. E. M. Lewis and Mrs. O. M. Bray, both of Newport News, Mrs. R. L. McClenny of Franklin, and Mrs. Simmy [sic] Bassett of Smithfield. Funeral services for Mr. Hancock were conducted at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon in the Courtland Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. L. M. Kanipe, assisted by Rev. W. A. Grissom, pastor of the Franklin-Congregational Christian Church. Burial was in the family cemetery near Courtland, the pallbearers being Marvin Gray, Garth Stuart Hancock, Harry Lee Hancock, R. L. Hancock, 3d, David Lewis, Robert Lewis, Alvin McClenny and C. L. McClenny.
