Hunnings, 62, were held at Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Joe McLean. Burial was at Southampton Memorial Park with full military honors. Hunnings, a former resident of Franklin, died Tuesday in Halifax Memorial Hospital, Roanoke Rapids, N.C. He was a Baptist and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Watson and Peggy Hunnings of Va. Beach, June H. Newsome of Suffolk, Glena L. Hunnings of Jackson, N.C.; a son Luther C. Hunnings Jr. of Jackson; two sisters, Dorothy H. Scott and Nora Hamm of Franklin; and six grandchildren.
