Harris, better known in this county as "Fagan" Harris, aged 82 died Wednesday, May 5, about two o’clock p.m. at his home near Boykins. He is survived by two sons, Paul and Joe Harris, both of the Boykins community; two daughters, Miss Faetta Harris of Boykins and Mrs. Ruth H. Crowder of Franklin; and six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mr. Harris had been a member of the Branchville Baptist Church for many years. Funeral services were conducted from the Purviance Funeral Home on May 7, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. N.B. Habel officiating, assisted by Rev. W.L. Sturtevant. The Baptist choir, with Mrs. W. Hugh Powell, Sr., accompanying sang "Jesus I Come" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye." Active pallbearers were Paul and Emmett Pope, Joe and Paul Harris, Jr., Richard Gray, Thomas M. Grizzard, M.F. Spence, and George Vaughan. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Burial was in Newsoms cemetery.
