Harris, who died Tuesday night in a Norfolk hospital were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, Rev. J.L. Kibler conducting the services, assisted by Rev. Porter Hardy, a former pastor here, and Rev. Mr. Watt of Seaboard, N.C. During the service Mrs. H.M. Purviance sang his favorite hymn, "Rock of Ages." Mr. Harris had spent most of his 60 years in Branchville, where he was born* and had engaged in the mercantile business for 25 years. He was an active member of the Branchville Methodist Church, acting as steward, superintendent of Sunday school and other important offices while a young man and later instrumental in building the new Methodist Church here. He had a pleasing personality, jovial disposition, making for himself many friends. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amy Harris; two daughters, Miss Georgie Harris and Mrs. Martin Harrell, all of Norfolk; three sisters, Mrs. Fennie Long of Richmond, Mrs. Mae Stephenson of Seaboard, N.C., and Mrs. Kate Mullens of Norfolk. Active pallbearers were: R.D. Vick, S.T. Boothe, J.M. Britt, R. C. Knight, Guy T. Horner and R.E. Ricks. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. John Z.
