A native of Nansemond County, he was the husband of Mrs. Thelma Rickley Harcum and a son of the late James Dossie and Mrs. Mary Tidwell Harcum. He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church, a member of Woodman of the World, and the Knights of Pythians, Franklin. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Steve R. Watson of Denton, Md.; three sisters, Mrs. W.E. Thompson of Portsmouth, Mrs. M.E. Grey of Charleston, S.C. and Mrs. H.C. Duke Jr. of Suffolk; one brother, Thomas Harcum of Suffolk; and three grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the I.O. Hill and Company Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. William A. Grissom. Burial will be in the Southampton Memorial Park, Inc., Franklin.
