Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Thomas Mabe of Sycamore Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring cemetery. Pallbearers were Alfred Faison, Ashley Vaughan, Jimmy Surace, George Hedgepeth, Wallace Simmons, Roger Edwards, Sam Schiller and Marvin E. Cutchins. Harcum, 62, died Wednesday in Medical College of Virginia Hospital, Richmond. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Lina Gray Harcum and a son of William Thomas and Mrs. Addie Vaughan Harcum. He worked for St. Regis Paper Co. and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and Forks of the River Ruritan Club. Besides his widow, surviving are a son, John Allen Harcum, and two daughters, Mrs. L.D. Tillette and Mrs. John C. Butler Jr., all of Franklin; four brothers, Emory Harcum and Otto Harcum of Franklin, Otis Harcum of Virginia Beach, and the Rev. Fred Harcum of Lebanon; a sister, Mrs. R.L. Boone of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren.
