Harcum, 87, of the 700 block of Fairview Dr., a retired postal clerk, died March 6, 1988 in a hospital. Mr. Harcum, a native of Southampton County, was a member, deacon and trustee of Sycamore Baptist Church. He had retired from US Postal Service after 45 years. He was a member of the Forks of the River Ruritan Club and had been honored by the National Ruritans with a plaque of recognition for his outstanding work, dedicated service of the National Assoc. of Retired Fed Employees. He was a former National Guardsman. Survivors include his wife Annie Skinner Harcum; two daughters, Nancey H. Ward of Alexandria and Harriette H. Hobbs of Chevy Chase, Md.; a brother, Rev. Fred Harcum of Abington, Va. and six grandchildren. The graveside services will be conducted at 3 pm Tuesday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Revs. Reginald Warren and Ira Hudgins. The family will be at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Sycamore Baptist Church or to a favorite charity. Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
