Funeral services for Aldon Gold Hardy, Sr., 63, who died Friday morning, January 25, in Raiford Memorial Hospital after a few hours' illness, were conducted Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. James W. Turner, pastor of the High Street Methodist Church. Mr. Hardy, a resident of Franklin for the past 22 years, was the husband of Mrs. Annie Respass Hardy of Franklin, who survives him. He was a native of Beaufort County, N.C. and the son of the late Parrot M. and Margaret Rowe Hardy. He was a member of High Street Methodist Church and was employed by Union Bag-Camp Paper Corporation in the maintenance department. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Aldon G. Hardy, Jr., of Franklin, M.Sgt. William F. Hardy, USA, now stationed in Germany, Joseph D. Hardy of Montgomery, Ala., and Charles R. Hardy of Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter Mrs. E.G. Britt of Franklin; six grandchildren; five brothers, Robert L. Hardy of Norfolk, Clyde T. Hardy of Hillsboro, N.C., Daniel C. Hardy of Aurora, N.C., Trenton R. Hardy of Goldsboro, N.C. and Earl D. Hardy of Alexandria; four sisters, Mrs. W.A. Herring of Warwick, Mrs. H.H. Gardner of Dendron, and Mrs. Rufus Baker and Mrs. Cola Rowe of Aurora, N.C. and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery and active pallbearers were C.E. Turner, B.R. Carr, Sam Powell, Sr., C.L. Winstead, John L. Brenner, Sam E. Eubanks, Harold E. Whitley, Jr., and C.J. Sykes.
