All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ NORMAN GODWIN HARRELL Norman Godwin Harrell, 71, of Branchville died in the Norfolk General Hospital on Sunday afternoon, July 15, at 5:28 o’clock. Mr. Harrell was a member of the Branchville Methodist Church and a former mayor of Branchville. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Addie Taylor Harrell of Branchville; two sons, Henry T. And E. Martin Harrell, both of Norfolk; one daughter Mrs. Virginia Tyler of Branchville; one brother, Gilbert T. Harrell of New Bedford, Mass.; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the late residence on Tuesday afternoon by his pastor, Rev. Marshall W. Anderson of Boykins, assisted by Rev. R. D. Stephenson of Franklin. John T. Darden sang "The End of the Road;" and the choir sang "Shall We Gather at the River?" accompanied by Mrs. L. O. Tyler. Interment was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. The active pallbearers were J. V. Beale, Rufus Beale, Val Edwards, Dr. J. J. Grizzard, Linton Grizzard, Thomas Grizzard, Anderson Lee, Alton Overby and Collis Overby. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family.
