All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ SARAH JOHNSON HARRELL Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Johnson Harrell, who died Friday, December 21, in a Jacksonville, Fla. hospital, were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist church officiating. Mrs. Harrell, 56, was a former resident of Franklin and Norfolk. She was the widow of Clyde Harrell of Norfolk and the daughter of the late J. Lewis and Mrs. Mary Frances Worrell Johnson of Southampton County. She was a member of Jackson Memorial Baptist Church, Portsmouth. Surviving her are two sons, Clyde Harrell, Jr., of Long Beach, Calif, and William Harrell of Bishop, Texas; two grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. J.M. Garris, Mrs. J.C. Mitchell, Mrs. Margaret Holland, Mrs. Carrie E. Beale, Mrs. Maude M. Gardner and Mrs. Mary Franks, all of Portsmouth; and one brother, V.C. Johnson, also of Portsmouth. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery and the active pallbearers were Clayton Garris, Franklin Elliott, Hurley Babb, Fletcher Whitley, W.H. Rutledge, B.H. Duck, James Proctor and James W. Cogsdale.
