All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WALTER THOMAS IVEY Walter Thomas Ivey, 82, well known resident of Newsoms, died at 9:30 o’clock Monday night at his home there after a brief illness. He was a son of the late Benjamin Byrd and Frances Thomas Ivey, of Southampton County, and had been a lifelong member of Barnes Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Addie Davis Ivey; two sons, James Thomas and William Benjamin Ivey of Newsoms; one brother, Benjamin L. Ivey of Thermopolis, Wyo.; one sister, Mrs. T.C. Holland, Sr., of Franklin; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were conducted at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at Barnes Methodist Church by the Rev. F.L. Baker of Newsoms. Burial took place in Newsoms Cemetery, pallbearers being L.L. Thorpe, H.A. Barrett, J.F. Drake, J.T. Parker, R.P. Gray, C.R. Everett, Ashby Worrell and E.W. Evans.
