DAVID LEIGHTON JONES, III

   COURTLAND - David L. Jones III, 21, of Route, a student, died Feb. 1, in 
Franklin.

   Mr. Jones, a native of Portsmouth, was a 1983 graduate of Southampton High 
School and a member of Franklin Presbyterian Church.  He received his 
automotive engineer degree from Paul D. Camp College and was enrolled in the 
business administration department of the college.

   Survivors include his parents, David L. Jones Jr. and Elizabeth Arthur 
Jones, all of Courtland; and paternal grandmother, Virginia Grayson Jones of 
Jonesville.

   The funeral was conducted Monday in Franklin Presbyterian Church by the 
Rev. Joseph Slane.  Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.

   Memorial donations may be made to the Franklin Rescue Squad or Franklin 
Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.  Wright Funeral Home handled the 
arrangements.
