All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EDWARD JONES Ed Jones, aged 83, a resident of Southampton County, passed away quietly at his home near Branchville about two o’clock Tuesday morning July 11th, after a short illness. He is survived by one daughter, Miss Annie Thomas Jones, of the Branchville community, and a host of friends in the county. His wife preceded him to the grave in January of this year. Funeral services were conducted from the Purviance Funeral Home in Boykins on Wednesday afternoon at four o’clock with Rev. L.F. Callaham, pastor of the deceased, officiating. A combined choir of the Boykins and Branchville churches furnished the music, and sang the following hymns: "Lead, Kindly Light," "Brighten the Corner Where You Are," and "God Be with You." Active pallbearers were: H.T. Smith, M.E. Owens, J.H. Owes, Roy Ricks, W. Hugh Powell, and J.E. Fox. Honorary bearers were friends of the family. Interment was made in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
