PHILIP JONES DIES SUNDAY AFTER LENGTHY ILLNESS Mrs. Naomi Tall Jones, a resident of Franklin for the past 45 years, died in a Norfolk hospital on Sunday morning, May 10, at 5:30 o’clock after a lingering illness. Mrs. Jones came to Franklin from Baltimore, Md., in October, 1907, as the bride of E. Philip Jones, who survives her. She was the daughter of the late Henry P. Tall and Millicent Naomi Tall of Baltimore, her father, a commercial traveler, having number many friends here. The deceased was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church for 45 years, serving continuously during that time as teacher, missionary society leader, treasurer of the missionary society, and in numerous other capacities. She was a charter member of the Berta Rowland circle and the Carrie Beale Sunday School class. In World War I she was active in the work of the Red Cross. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Emerson P. Jones; two grandsons, Milton R. Jones and Emerson P. Jones, Jr.; four sisters, Mrs. Dale Aymold of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. J.W. Newcombe of Albany, N.Y., and Mrs. W.H. Jones and Mrs. L.E. Norfleet of Franklin; a brother, Baker Tall of Baltimore; 11 nephews, Dr. Brock Jones and J. Maxwell Jones of Norfolk, Dr. Darden W. Jones of Franklin, James T. Jones of Holland, Elijah Jones of Greenwick, Conn., William T. Jones, W. Tall Jones and R. Ellsworth Jones of Franklin, B.L. Aymold, Jr., of Baltimore, Philip Newcombe of Albany, N.Y., and Davis Newcombe of Trappe, Md.; six nieces, Miss Shirley Jones of Franklin, Mrs. John G. Truitt of Elon College, N.C., Mrs. Elizabeth Jones and Mrs. Richmond Koontz of Norfolk, and Mrs. Mary Rawls Stephenson and Mrs. Selma Jones Pierce of Suffolk; and an uncle, Rev. Howard Davis of Lewes, Del. Final rites for Mrs. Jones were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock in the Franklin Congregational Christian Church by a former pastor, Dr. William T. Scott of Elon College, N.C., assisted by the present pastor, Rev. Harvey L. Carnes, and Dr. John G. Truitt, head of the orphanage at Elon College, N.C., Mrs. Claudia Jacobs presided at the organ; and the choir sang two of Mrs. Jones’ favorite hymns, "I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord," and "Savior, Thy Dying Love." Members of the Carrie Beale class sat in a body during the services. The casket was covered with a pall [...] and numerous floral tributes banked about the pulpit testified to the affection in which Mrs. Jones was held. Interment was in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were J. Letcher Eley, Dr. Darden W. Jones, William Thomas Jones, R. Ellsworth Jones and W. Tall Jones, all of Franklin; Floyd F. Jenkins of Richmond; and Dr. Brook D. Jones, J. Maxwell Jones and Wade H. Carder of Norfolk. Millicent Naomi Davis (TALL; Mrs. E.
