Edwin C. Thornton Jr. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park. A native of Nansemond County, Jones died Tuesday, July 24 in Southampton Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was the son of the late William Henry and Pattie March Jones. He was a retired farmer and an Army veteran of WWI. Surviving him are five sisters, Mrs. Pattie French of Norfolk, Mrs. Vashti Hawa of Franklin, Mrs. Katie Korahaes of Virginia Beach, Mrs. Margaret Thedrakis of Murfreesboro, N.C. and Mrs. Irene Sleeper of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and three brothers, Joseph C. Jones of Franklin, James A. Jones of Franklin, and Willie E. Jones of Virginia Beach.
