SARA V. RAWLINGS JONES

   FRANKLIN - A funeral service for Mrs. Sara Rawlings Jones was conducted 
Saturday at 3 p.m. in the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. St. 
Elmo Nauman of Franklin Congregational Church.  Burial will be in Poplar 
Spring Cemetery.

   Pallbearers were J.F. Briggs, Ben Wyche, Harold Atkinson, L.P. Jervey Jr., 
Harvey Lankford Jr., Somner Rawls, Samuel Bradshaw and W.H. Goodwin.

   Mrs. Jones, 51, the wife of Franklin mayor, Dr. Darden W. Jones, and a 
sister of State Sen. Williams V. Rawlings of Capron, died Thursday at 6:30 
a.m. in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness.

   A native of Capron, she lived in Franklin 30 years.  She was a daughter of 
the late Edgar Eley and Mrs. Irma Vincent Rawlings.

   She was a member of Franklin Congregational Church and a past president of 
its Woman’s Fellowship, member of the Franklin Library Board and Southampton 
Memorial Hospital Auxilary.

   Other survivors include two sons, Darden W. Jones Jr. and Edgar Rawlings 
Jones of Franklin.
