All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM HENRY JONES William Henry Jones, 74, of 401 Chestnut Street, Franklin, a retired merchant, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning, October 11, after an illness of several months. Mr. Jones was a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Amanda Rogers Jones of Oxford, N.C. A member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, he served as a deacon for many years. He was a member of Franklin Lodge No. 151, Knights of Pythias. Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. W.B. Hastings, and one grandson, W. Bryant Hastings, Jr., both of Franklin; and one brothers, A.J. Jones of Tillery, N.C. Services for Mr. Jones were held from the Franklin Congregational Christian Church on Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock, with the pastor, Rev. Harvey L. Carnes and Rev. R.D. Stephenson officiating. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Seith Atkinsson, J. Letcher Eley, T. Hayes Holland, C. Harry Jones, George H. Parker, Sr., G.E. Pillow, George O. Watkins, and Fletcher L. Whitley. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church and E.P. Jones, E. Owen Forbes, Richard H. Rawles, Sr., and other friends of the family.
