Johnson, 59 years of age, wife of C.L. Johnson, shot and fatally wounded herself at 2:30 Thursday, April 14, due to ill health for the past five years. The tragedy took place in their store in Boykins, Mrs. Johnson was alone at the time. She is survived by her husband, C.L. Johnson, of Boykins, a brother, E.L. Johnson, of Purdy. She was the daughter of the late Joshua and Delina Johnson of Southampton County. On January, 1901, she married C.L. Johnson. She was a member of the Capron Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at Purviance Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Friday with Rev. A.W. Coates of Drewryville, pastor of her church, officiating, assisted by Rev. F.B. Handley. Music at the home was furnished by Mrs. H.M. Purviance, accompanied by Mrs. J.M. Bland and at the grave by the combined choirs. Active pallbearers were: Dr. J.M. Bland, S.J. Wilson, Willie Pope, J.I. Glasgow, R.T. Lassiter, W.H. Powell, and H.A. Shaffer. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery. Addie F. (JOHNSON; Mrs. Charlie L.)
